Helping Vulnerable Children in Detrimental Environments

When a child is brought into the world surrounded by natural calamities, disasters, extreme poverty, and unrest, they are also usually denied the right to a good quality of life and a good education.

Amitofo Care Centre Australia believes the early years of children are crucial for helping us prepare for the world; they contain fundamental developments that allow us to build opportunities for ourselves, our families, and our loved ones. We all have the right to access food, water, sanitation, safety, and education whenever we need and ACC Australia knows the difficult circumstances vulnerable children in African nations are exposed to can prevent this. This is why we are committed to giving them the help they need to blossom and achieve the life they deserve.

Our approach combines charity and aid for basic necessities alongside the provision of a proper educational environment for learning and development. We believe that children being empowered through learning necessary skills can not only contribute to their own future but that of their nation.

Creating Success Through A Complete Ecosystem

ACC campuses are designed to completely meet the needs of every child under our care. Each campus features an administrative centre, dormitories, primary and secondary schools, along with a kindergarten, a library, and an activity centre. The campuses also have a clinic and spaces to provide vocational training and religious studies.

Thus far, ACC campuses have adopted over 1200 children and we have also worked with other community-based organisations to support more than 14,000 vulnerable children in surrounding districts.

Fostering Relationships and Empowering Through Education

The work of ACC Australiaintends to create environments that allow children to be part of a family. We achieve this by linking 20 children with two local nannies and one guardian teacher to form a “family like” unit – these educators work together to provide each child with an excellent education while simultaneously managing their unique needs and demands on a regular basis. Our care, therefore, goes beyond simple standard classroom teachings, and we ensure the children feel safe and happy so they can really shine.

In terms of formal education, ACC Australia works with branches overseas to build formal school grounds within villages and boarding areas. These institutions, called Yuan-Tong School, provide children with their formal primary and secondary education and teach them local languages alongside English, Mandarin, and Buddhist teachings.

By ensuring broadened perspectives through Western and traditional Chinese cultures, ACC Australia ensures that children are given every opportunity to learn and embrace their own culture whilst preparing them for a future in a globalised world.
